RATTLESNAKE RANGE


Camp Shelby Air-to-Ground Range is an inert munitions facility that provides aircrew and Special Warfare Airmen with Surface Attack (SA), Close Air Support (CAS), and Suppression of Enemy Air Defense (SEAD) training. The assets include: scoreable strafe and bombing targets, a Military Operations on Urban Terrain (MOUT) Village with sim round and breaching capabilities, combat laser capabilities including scoring, helicopter landing zones, air drop zones, dynamic targeting capabilities and a menu of different Low-Cost Threat Emitters (LCTE’s) that can be coupled with high fidelity Surface to Air Missile (SAM) system surrogates to enhance SEAD training.

 Emerging Technologies and Air Space:
  • Golden Eagle ALTRV which allows for aircraft to seamlessly travel from WHODAT warning area to Shelby Air Gunnery Range allowing for in scenario weapon drops.
  • High Fidelity Threat Surrogates
  • Low-Cost Threat Emitters (LCTE)
  • Digitally Aided Close Air Support
  • Data Link access via the Gulf Common Network
  • Autonomous vehicle moving targets
